TCF Exams

The Test de connaissance du francais (TCF) is a French language proficiency test for non-native speakers of French who wish to evaluate and have their level of proficiency certified for professional, academic or personal reasons.



TCF General Version

The TCF is officially recognised by the French Ministry of Education as well as by the French Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration.

There are 3 compulsory parts: 

- Listening (25 minutes, 29 questions)
- Grammar and vocabulary (15 minutes, 18 questions)
- Reading (45 minutes, 29 questions)

You can choose to test one or two more skills: speaking (12 minutes, 3 questions) or/and writing (1 hour, 3 questions)

TCF Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité

The TCF IRN (Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité) has been created to meet the new provisions introduced by the French Ministry of the Interior and Immigration Authorities to assess the knowledge of the French language for applicants who need the long-term resident card or those wishing to acquire French nationality by marriage or naturalization.

The TCF IRN can also be used as part of the validation of level A1 (OFII citizen course).

There are 4 compulsory parts:

- Listening (15 minutes, 20 questions)
- Speaking (10 minutes, 3 questions)
- Reading (20 minutes, 3 questions)
- Writing (30 minutes, 3 exercises)

 

TCF Q

The TCF is officially recognised by the French Ministry of Education as well as by the French Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration.

There are 3 compulsory parts: 

- Reading (45 minutes, 30 questions)
- Listening (25 minutes, 30 questions)
- Grammar and vocabulary (20 minutes, 20 questions)

You can choose to test one or two more skills: speaking (12 minutes, 3 questions) or/and writing (1 hour, 3 questions)

 

TCF Canada

The IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada / Immigration, Réfugiés, Citoyenneté Canada) has approved the TCF Canada, for anyone who wish to take steps towards permanent economic immigration or obtaining Canadian citizenship.

The TCF is compulsory, regardless of the nationality and language of origin (French and people from French-speaking countries).


There are 4 compulsory parts:

- Speaking (3 questions, 12 minutes)
- Listening (39 questions ,  35 minutes)
- Reading (39 questions , 60 minutes)
- Writing (3 questions, 60 minutes)

A minimum of 3 candidates per session is required. Sessions with less candidates will be canceled and the registration fees will be refunded. 
Note:
The TCF exam at Alliance française de Kuala Lumpur is paper-based.

     

     A few simple steps to register to a TCF exam.

        In order to proceed with your registration, we will need to:

  1. Identify the exam session you would like to register to from the table above.
  2. Fill in the e-application form below - a copy of your passport is required.
  3. The full payment is required in order to confirm your registration.

You can register in person, with all the necessary documents, in our Lorong Gurney centre. We recommend you to contact us first (03 2694 7880) to check that our office will be open when you come.  You can pay by cash, cheque and credit or debit card (kindly note that AMEX & DINERS are not accepted).


If you did not receive any convocation email 3 weeks prior to your respective exam, please contact exams@afkualalumpur.org

To request a re-evaluation of your TCF exam, please complete the form below and send it to exams@afkualalumpur.org.

The re-evaluation fee can be paid by clicking the button provided. If your exam results are modified following the re-evaluation, the correction fee will be refunded.
