Alliance Française is a non-partisan association abided by local law, governed by a Committee of local voluntary personalities elected by members of the association. It is part of the French Government's cultural network: Cultural Services of French Embassies / Institut Français / Fondation des Alliances Françaises / Alliance Française.

Alliance Française is the leading center for French language, French culture and francophone resources in Kuala Lumpur.
Alliance Française has had a foothold in Malaysia since 1961.
There are 2 location in Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
In Kuala Lumpur, AFKL operates from 2 centres: Lorong Gurney (main centre) and Bangsar.
Alliance Française is not only a unique language centre whose reputation is firmly established but also an exceptional social and cultural
environment offering multiple events throughout the year and aiming at gathering French and Malaysian people as well as fostering exchanges
between these two cultures.
The Alliance Française is the only official centre recognised by the French Ministry of Education for French language certifications.
The Alliance Francaise is registered as a French Language Centre under the provisions and regulations of the Education Act 2016 (Act 550) with the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
The Alliance Francaise is supported by the Embassy of France in Malaysia.
