• IS ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE DE KUALA LUMPUR ORGANIZING THE TESTS? +

Those tests are organized by French organizations: French Ministry of Education for TCF and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris (CCIP) for TEF. At AFKL, you can only sit for them, but the tests are designed in France, and French Ministry of Education and CCIP will provide us with the correction, the final marks and the official certificates.
  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TEF AND TCF? TEFAQ AND TCF-Q? +

The main difference between TEF and TCF (or between their “Quebec versions” TEFaQ and TCF-Q) is the organizer of them :

    – TCF and its different versions are organized by the French Ministry of Education
    – TEF and its different versions are organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris

Another difference is that for TEF, some parts will be conducted individually on a computer – but for TCF, it will only be a “paper test”.
But the purposes of those two tests are the same: TEF and TCF will assess your level in French regarding the same criterias and the same european standards.
For example, TCF-Q and TEFaQ are both accepted by the Québec immigration.
  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DELF/DALF AND TCF/TEF? +

DELF and DALF are official French language diplomas, provided by the French Ministry of education. They measure your French language proficiency in four skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing). As with any university degrees, they are valid for life and you can mention them in your resume, provide them to an employer, etc.

TCF, TEF and their versions are tests. They determine your proficiency in the skills you choose. They are valid only for a set period of time (1 to 2 years).
  • WHEN WILL I GET MY RESULTS AND MY CERTIFICATE? +

It depend on the test you sat for. For TEFaQ, you will get the results after 3 weeks and the certificates after 5 to 6 weeks. For the other tests, results and certificates will arrive after 5 to 6 weeks.
  • CAN I GET AN EXTRA COPY OF MY CERTIFICATE? +

It is not possible for TCF and its different versions. For TEF and TEFaQ, you can ask for it when you register (50 RM, one extra copy maximum).
  • WHICH TEST DO I HAVE TO SIT FOR IF I WANT TO JOIN THE FRENCH UNIVERSITY? +

Several tests can be accepted by French Universities (DELF/DALF, TCF-DAP, TEF and TCF with or without the writing part, etc.), but it is better if you ask directly to the University you would like to join what are its requirements, as they may vary from one university to the other. You can also contact the Malaysia French University Center to get information about studies in French Universities (03 2142 7475 – www.mfuc.org).
